HTP Hydro Tempered High-Density Fibreboard
HTP Hydro Tempered high-density fibreboard is a premium moisture-resistant with a smooth side and a rough side engineered for demanding interior applications where durability, stability and surface quality are essential. Available from Creffields Timber and Boards,
This advanced fibreboard offers significantly improved resistance to humidity, moisture and swelling.
Thanks to its hydro-tempered manufacturing process, HTP fibreboard provides a dense, stable core with excellent screw-holding, machining and finishing performance — Due to its high density and strength, HTP HYDRO TEMPERED is a board for non-structural use, recommended for use in a dry environments (HB), suited for specific applications such as roofing, flooring or ceilings, protective structures, doors, signs and special packaging, where moisture is an
important factor for its resistance.
No artificial resins are added to the manufacture of the HTP HYDRO TEMPERED board, as the fibres are bonded with lignin, the natural adhesive in wood, making it a durable and valuable material.

HTP (Hydro Tempered Process) High-density fibreboard produced using controlled heat and moisture treatment during manufacturing. This process compresses and seals the fibres, giving the board exceptional resistance to water vapour, humidity and temperature changes.
The result is a fibreboard that remains flat, strong and stable even in environments where other boards would swell, warp or deteriorate.
Key Benefits of HTP Fibreboard
- High moisture and humidity resistance
- High-density core for strength and stability
- Excellent machining and screw-holding
- Smooth surface ideal for painting, laminating and veneering
- Reduced risk of swelling, cracking and edge failure
- Suitable for demanding interior environments
Typical Applications
HTP Hydro Tempered fibreboard is widely used in:
- Kitchen cabinets & carcasses
- Bathroom furniture & wall panels
- Wardrobes and fitted furniture
- Shopfitting & commercial interiors
- Wall panelling & decorative interiors
- High-end joinery and bespoke furniture
Wherever standard boards struggle with moisture or temperature changes, HTP provides a more durable and reliable solution.
Formaldehyde content
No added artificial resins are used in the manufacture of the HTP HYDRO TEMPERED board, as the fibres are bonded with lignin, the natural adhesive in wood, making it a durable and valuable material.
For this reason, the formaldehyde emission levels of these boards are similar to those of natural wood.
Handling and storage
Avoid inhaling the wood dust generated during its handling and processing. Use appropriate PPE according to current legislation. The boards should be stored on a flat surface, avoiding direct contact with the
ground and water, maintaining the distances between battens supplied in the packaging to avoid vending and deformations. Sudden changes in these conditions may affect the properties of the board.
